Apr. 23rd, 2003 05:20 pmI learned how to access this site by going through other sites so that it didn't show on the Address bar drop-down history. To this day, it feels...unsafe somehow...to type the URL right in...
A good day today. Two ladies came in, one from Cuba and the other from Honduras, both on the other side of middle age...the part of life when you can be as sedate or outrageous as you want to be because you've paid your dues, thank you... They were wonderful to listen to and more so to work with, made my entire day.
Finished "Magic's Price" yesterday. That entire trilogy was rather Greek--dramatic, comedic, grand-scale, and in the end everyone dies... I loved it, though. Mercedes Lackey did something fascinating by making her lead character a beautiful, melancholy homosexual man--this way, a female reader can both (~snorts at herself, learning to read from Harlequin novels~) lust after the character and sympathise with him... Vanyel's one that'll stick in the memory, right up there with Daemon from Anne Bishop's Black Jewels set and Jilly Coppercorn from Charles deLint's Newford stories. Vibrant.
I'm content.
