semi-random...
Aug. 20th, 2003 02:29 pmFirst off: This little tidbit... Forgive me one generalisation, that Californians are all a bit nuts, but thus far, their whole recall has done nothing but back me up...
In other "news": Today's a work-from-home kind of day; for some reason, our illustrious office manager was determined not to have me underfoot if I didn't have an appointment. So I'm sitting at my gran-in-law's being On Call... Faint shadow of ominous-ness on the horizon, but as yet it's able-to-be-ignored. What's the worst Mr. Newton can do? Not renew my contract? Yah, long maternity leave, working for cash, and not having to claim a dime of it on taxes.
Honestly, if I can find a way to work this gig--or any other, actually--so that I can be a relatively stay-at-home mom and yet still get an income...~snort~ I will have found the maternal El Dorado...
My Dovi's getting new tires today. This is good: yesterday, as I was about to take a left turn at a green light, Random Car topped the hill and sped through the interstection at, like, 60. Seeing the glare on his windshield and knowing that I had no chance, I hit my brakes...Brand new brakes, perfect condition, lifetime warrantee. The brakes caught and held...the tires skidded a bit before stopping. I ended up about half a carlength across the crosswalk, and have officially hydroplaned on dry asphalt. New tires are *gooooood*...
So...off to actually *do something work related*... Take care, all.
