Happy little bit from three nights ago
Jan. 28th, 2006 01:16 pmThat I always meant to write up, but have only just now gotten round to:
My little man has decided that the library is his favorite play room. It has a TV with a DVD player in it, and enough room for a boy and his new trucks to play in without feeling lost. So on the evening of the 25th, he was under one of his trucks with a plastic wrench in one hand and a plastic screwdriver in the other, mechaniking like Dad-Tom.
DirecTV has a few XM radio stations on its higher channels, and I've found one that sometimes plays live recordings of bands I've never heard of. It's where I heard the bluesy, jazzy rawness of K.T. Tunstall; I approve. So while he played, I tried my luck with XM Cafe.
That night, the liveshow du jour was Carbon Leaf, from a set they recorded back in February of '05. "Ah," thinks I, "Carbon Leaf! Cat's band. Score. Wonder what they sound like." So there we stay.
And as "Life Less Ordinary" plays on and my folks give me the what're-you-listening-to-in-there-now? look, Dae crawls out from beneath his vehicle and begins to dance.
My little man likes your band, Katzchen.
Made me grin.
