Things that make me smile
(and not in the scary, slightly manic way, either, but gently. Like someone remembering who she is.) :
* Josh Ritter's music. "Wings" from Hello Starling and "Here at the Right Time" from The Animal Years are...~considers it...~ familiar, even when it's the first time you hear them. There's a snippet of an NPR interview here . Gratitudes to Mark for pointing it and this artist out to me.
* Spider Robinson . Just finished Callahan's Cross-time Saloon and Callahan's Lady... I didn't long for Heaven as much when I read the Gospels of Luke, John, or Thomas as I do at the moment, and it's funny, but Heaven seems so much more a place you can create around you after reading it set in a bar and a brothel...you realise that it's a place you find inside yourself or not at all. Makes me happy this man's still alive. Maybe this time round we won't kill him for the sake of politics or something equally stupid.
* The fact that both my license and the most recent child support check are in today. I'm official.
