EDIT, having had the brakes looked at:
Not bad. $11.00 and about an hour to tell me that my van (like its owner) is just a little warped in the rotors and is noisy and shivery because of it. Nothing dangerous, just unsettling. When her brakepads start to go, *then* we'll shell out the $200-odd to have it all machined back into order and the pads replaced.
So good, then. My grandparents don't hear the high end of the spectrum well anyway, so the only one cringing when Grandda hits the brakes on their great Month-Long Roadtrip will be Ma. And in the meantime, I get to drive their shiny little red car round and try not to live in it too very much. ~nods~

Granted, MOVING HOUSE should kill a wanderlust pretty effectively.
