My one concession to Valentine's Day

Since it is, after all, the day after the 13th:
I will not bludgeon you with allusion or metaphore.
It isn't that our love has no room for them,
For their flowery, wistful rhythm,
Just that it has no need.
Our rhythm is such that as I open my mouth
To breathe, to speak, to sigh,
There you are:
Breathing, speaking, sighing
With me.
And we smile at eachother
And touch noses,
Grateful and pleased to be in step.
I will not bludgeon you with allusion or metaphore.
It isn't that our love has no room for them,
For their flowery, wistful rhythm,
Just that it has no need.
Our rhythm is such that as I open my mouth
To breathe, to speak, to sigh,
There you are:
Breathing, speaking, sighing
With me.
And we smile at eachother
And touch noses,
Grateful and pleased to be in step.
