1) RAW brand hair dye? either strikes VERY QUICKLY and with very little dye, or doesn't strike for love or money. When my hair dries, I'll review further.

1.5) RAW seems convinced that SEEING the dark purple in the dye bowl isn't enough--you must also SMELL it. And now I smell like I dipped my head in Dimetapp.

2) Tilex will take RAW brand hair dye off of a cheap porcelain sink. Of course, the tub may never be the same (See #3)...

2.9999999) Discovered a wonderful, rich-feeling conditioner: Organix Shea Butter. Yes yes. Add a bit of the Special Effects dye to that? Should be WONDERFUL...

3) God Itself will take RAW brand hair dye off my nails--nothing else. I even wore gloves to apply the stuff this time! >.<

4) Edible Eyes. (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] tanac!)

~grin~ Bleach would be the first step with this stuff, too, except I hate the feral hair that happens after about three weeks. So I'm just going to play with changing the cast of the brown as it comes back and the blonde and red streaks left over from the foray into trendy hair. It works pretty well with a modified pre-dye washing routine:

1) Wash hair with least merciful shampoo possible; skip conditioner.
2) Soak hair ~3 minutes in soda ash or baking soda/water solution (NOT as stout as the soda ash solution for dying clothes, even though it serves the same purpose. I'm still playing with proportions, here.) Squeeze excess out of hair, comb hair out and allow to air dry.
3) Dye, and let steep at least three hours.
4) Rinse until water comes mostly clear
5) Rinse again in lemon juice water (about 1 part lemon juice per 4 parts water), followed by cold water, a good conditioner, and more cold water.

My gloves are a nice thick black Nitrile this time, and they're great for keeping dye off hands (as long as I'm, y'know, wearing them...); they don't, however, show you where the dye is on themselves, so you wind up with bright purple thumbprints in places you didn't expect... ~blush~ When I get to the bottom of this pack, I think I'm going back to the lilac latex gloves I had for tie dye. They work as well, they fit nicely, and I'll be able to see the spots I'm about to make. ;D

The RAW's been pretty good about getting off my skin without a fuss, but anything vaguely keratinised is VIOLET. (I discovered that I've lost the circular-friction-w/-heel-of-hand callus....) Methinks I'll be ordering S.E.'s Deep Purple for the next run rather than be subject to the whims of Hot Topic.

Now I'm off to find nail polish remover.

Thanks for the ideas, Katzchen! ~hugs and nosebeeps~
