Local folklore has it that the Natives never lived for any long period in North Alabama. Called this area the Valley of Sickness; good for hunting and developing sensitivities to the inescapable pollen of a thousand blooming things.
I have no idea how true this piece of lore is, but it makes a fun story. And let me tell you, since I moved to the Tennessee Valley, I've had trouble with ear and sinus infections like I haven't had since I was a child.
Go to a doctor and complain, he nods sagely, shines a light in your nose, puts a tuning fork on your third eye, and tells you what you just told him. Writes you a scrip for sufficient antibiotic to clear the clap three times. Waves bye.
The antibiotic does nothing except render your birth control null.
The sinus shit continues.
There's got to be another way.
Anybody got any neti pot horror stories?

Date: 2008-10-07 09:09 am (UTC)I have a touch of seasonal allergy every year but nothing like when I was a kid. We had awful old feather pillows that apparently were killing me but I didn't know it until I moved out from home as a young adult and bought foam ones. Now I use buckwheat hulls, but I do think a new pillow now and then does help. I put them out to sun periodically, too.
