Welcome to the Belljar...

(sidebar: "Belljar": reference to the glass dome used to study insects and damn near anything else it encloses, not a reference to the Silvia Platt(h?) work. Considering why she killed herself and the content that's about to follow, I figured it'd be best to note that *now* before anybody gets at all concerned...assuming anybody but me would've caught the reference either way...)

I stumbled across my husband's stash of skin-magazines recently... Curious as to what actually goes on between the covers of such (because I'm more a steamy-romance-novel girl than a visual-stimulation one), I flipped through one at random. Fox , I think was the title...
And I came to a conclusion: it's not the nudity that gets me. I'm an LMT for God's sake--the human body is nothing I haven't already seen.
It's...I guess, the lack of grace. Looking at those girls--and the occasional guy-- ...it was nothing I haven't seen. There was nothing to capture the attention and make me see its subject in a different way, no magic to it. Just random buxom strangers thrown into odd positions and told to look like they're having fun... No fire...just a lot of smoke.
....~puzzled look~ This helps guys get off?
~blinks~ People defend this as "art"?
I'm sorry...that's like saying "Backyard Fight Club--Volume I" is as important and moving as say... "Saving Private Ryan" or "American Beauty." ...maybe *someone's* porn classifies as art, but this?
~shrug, shakes head~ I don't understand.
Anybody care to enlighten me?
